Terms of Service
What FluentIn is
FluentIn is language-learning software: a speaking drill for regional slang and industry jargon in English. We provide the software and the drill content. We do not provide language instruction as a service, and no results are guaranteed.
Content
- Phrases, situations and social cards are editorial content written and reviewed by us and by people who live in the region described. They describe how some people speak in some places at some times. Register, safety and currency notes are our best judgement, not guarantees; using a phrase is your call and your responsibility.
- Video clips are served by YouTube's embedded player from public YouTube videos under YouTube's Terms of Service. We do not host, download, alter or claim rights to them. If you own a video and want it removed from a card, write to us and we will.
- The FluentIn name, icon and drill content are ours. You may not copy the content into another product.
Your own API key
If you enable the AI judge you use your own account with a third-party provider (Google Gemini, or DeepSeek in the China edition). Their terms, pricing and availability apply; any charges they bill are yours. FluentIn is not a party to that relationship and cannot see or recover your key.
Acceptable use
Do not use FluentIn to harass or demean people, or to extract its content for redistribution. Do not attempt to circumvent the App Store's purchase or distribution rules.
Purchases
FluentIn is currently free. If paid features are introduced, they will be sold through the App Store under Apple's terms; pricing, billing, renewal and refunds are handled by Apple.
Warranty disclaimer
FluentIn is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Speech recognition, the on-device matcher and any AI judge make mistakes; a verdict is a learning aid, not an authority. We do not warrant that third-party services (Apple speech, YouTube, AI providers) remain available or accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of FluentIn, including social outcomes of using a phrase. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for FluentIn in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms; the current version always lives at this address, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. You can stop using FluentIn at any time by deleting it, which removes all local data.
